永欣是迟来的宝贝。

那一年小姑与先生凭着一股傻劲，到美国拼搏，

造化弄人，他们的第一个孩子，在四岁的时候得了脑膜炎。

上天没有带走他，却一点一滴夺去他的健康，从活泼可爱到失智，

躺在床上变成植物人，历经一年多的时间，医师已经宣布放弃，

但是可怜的父母不愿放手，小姑放弃自己的任务，

全心全意没日没夜的照顾他，孩子病了二一年，现在已经二五岁。

从躺在床上毫无知觉，到现在可以带着他在户外走动，他的医生认为是奇迹，

还告诉其他得相同病症的家庭，去看这对伟大的父母，如何照顾病童。

小姑本来不想再生，永欣却意外的降临。

这个小女孩，带给这个几乎忘记世上还有欢笑的家庭，最多的快乐与希望。

她懂事、体贴温柔，她一张开眼就知道母亲的辛苦。

她总是安静的看书，哥哥抽筋的时候，母亲掉泪的时候，

小小的她已经知道自己的责任，她从不吵闹，

不要再增添爸爸妈妈的负担，早熟的令人心疼。

隔壁新搬来了一个邻居，会拉小提琴，悠扬的琴音，让永欣驻足聆听。

妈妈知道女儿想学，就做了蛋糕，忐忑的敲邻居大门，吞吞吐吐的帮助来意，

那个人皱着眉，打量这个不速之客，勉为其难的答应了。

永欣果然有天分，短时间就让老师惊艳，老师也乐得英才而教之。

她的琴艺进步神速，小小年纪就考取了市立交响乐团，

乐团指挥欣赏她的天分，从不轻易收徒的她，亲自指导这个小神童，

永欣也不负众望，多次得到比赛的大奖。

她的在校成绩也是出类拔萃，今年初中毕业，荣获年度荣誉学生与市长奖，

毕业典礼时代表毕业生致词，以下是永欣致词的全文：「面对恐惧」

Facing Your Fear                                     by Shannon Ho                 

Congrats, class of 2008! We’ve all worked hard for this moment,

and now we’re going to high school! But, one day, something called fear

may keep us from doing what is right or prevent us from facing a

challenge. It already holds some of us back from chasing our dreams.

Everyone has a fear, even those who deny it. The fear itself can be to

stand up for somebody, to speak out against someone you dislike,

or even to confront a friend. We are also afraid because of the

possibilities of results; we might get hurt, not fit in, not being

thought of as 'cool'. But look, this is life! And in life, we should take

chances, and do what’s right no matter what. Don’t let your fears

stop you from reaching your goals, your dreams. Whatever the

consequence is, at least you won’t ever look back and wonder

what would have happened. Don’t let past disappointments make you

afraid of the future. Instead, appreciate everything you already have,

and move on with your life. Look at us now. We’re going on to high

school, and we have loving families who will support us, friends who

will stand by our side, and teachers who will aid us when we truly need it.

So don’t let your fears control your life. Control them, do what’s

right, and remember that you’re not alone.
